RUSTY MORGAN WITHDRAWS

April 14 2008, 11am – Rusty Morgan has announced he is withdrawing from the race for West Virginia State Senator. He said that he would no longer continue in the race due to ongoing problems with his eyesight. He has undergone four operations on his detached retinas in the past two years.

Morgan said, “It is a difficult decision, I regret letting down my supporters and the public, but I feel this is the right decision. We are just going to have to move on. It has nothing to do the race. It is a personal decision. At this point I just need to have some privacy.”

Morgan says he will continue to perform his duties as a Jefferson County Commissioner until the end of his term. According to his campaign manager, Tom Tumble, Morgan will talk to the Secretary of State’s office on how to return campaign contributions from his donors

Morgan was running in the Republican primary for State Senate, his departure leaves Bob Adams unopposed in the primary race.
